Freeport bike path gets $1.5 million boost


Gov. Pat Quinn’s office announced that Stephenson and Winnebago counties will receive nearly $4 million in federal money to extend or improve bike path and sidewalk extension projects in several cities. The Freeport bike path project is a key piece in region’s trail network. The City of Freeport will receive $1.52 million to build a large section of the Pecatonica Prairie Trail in Freeport and Stephenson County as well as trailhead amenities and a shelter with restrooms at Tutty’s Crossing. Read more about it at JournalStandard.com.
